Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the party access areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
